Ways to Support Indy Legal Aid
There are many ways to support Indy Legal Aid. Please consider donating online as one of the quickest and most effective ways of making a difference. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and helps the most vulnerable Hoosiers. Whether outright or deferred, the tax advantages of charitable giving may be substantial. Individuals should consult with their attorneys or tax advisors to determine tax benefits when making gifts other than cash.

Indy Legal Aid is locally funded and does not receive tax dollars. We are funded by individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsorships.

The Indianapolis Legal Aid Society is a 501(c)(3) organization – Tax ID #35-1045153. Donations are tax deductible. After donating online a receipt will be emailed to you to confirm your donation.

Monthly Donations
Provide essential support for Indy Legal Aid services by setting up automatic donations through a credit card. You will be providing Legal Aid a stable and reliable source of funding that allows us to plan ahead. Making smaller monthly donations allows many donors to support Legal Aid at a much higher level. For example, $10 per month equals $120 a year! You can change or suspend your donation at any time. Please make your donation online here or by mail to:
Indianapolis Legal Aid Society, Annual Fund, 615 N. Alabama Street, Suite 122, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
Tribute Gifts
A perfect way to celebrate a special occasion, honor someone special, or remember a loved one or friend is with a donation in their name. We’ll send a card notifying them or the family of your thoughtful remembrance. You can make your donation online and indicate the name of the person you are honoring at the bottom of the page. Your gift will pay tribute to someone special while supporting the important work of the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society.
Major Gifts - Leadership Circle

Legacy Gifts
The Indy Legal Aid Legacy Fund is an important way for you to leave your lasting legacy in our community. Planned or Legacy giving is the process of making the decision – while a donor is alive – to give a charitable gift upon the donor’s passing. Proceeds from legacy gifts flow into the fund. Your annual support of Indy Legal Aid is vital to our ongoing services and programs, and by establishing a planned gift to the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society, you will help ensure we continue serving the disadvantaged well into the future. There are many types of planned gifts which offer favorable financial and/or
tax benefits to the donor.
Here are a few ways to make a planned gift: Remember Indy Legal Aid in your will; donate stocks; set up a charitable trust; donate through life insurance or your retirement plan. Indy Legal Aid recommends that you consult an estate planning professional about these or other planned giving options.

Indy Legal Aid is jumping on the crypto bandwagon to support our efforts. According to "What Your Nonprofit Needs to Know About Cryptocurrency Donations" by Tina Roh on December 8, 2021, from the National Council of Nonprofits, cryptocurrency has reached and sustained a valuation of over $2 trillion in 2021, and many people are now sitting on appreciated coins with not many places to use them. On the flip side, the IRS incentivizes donations of crypto similarly to gifts of stock.
Cryptocurrency is considered property and donating it is a nontaxable event. This means that donors don’t have to recognize capital gains and, if they itemize deductions, could potentially deduct up to the fair market value of the donated asset. In a recent study, Fidelity Charitable found crypto owners to be more charitable than the typical investor, but 46 percent of these donors noted it was difficult to find nonprofits that accept cryptocurrency donations.
